Dr. Upham Joins U. of I. Faculty
New President Will Arrive
at the University Early
in December.
University of Idaho, Moscow, Nov. 20.—(Special.)—Two high
tributes to the ability and personality
of Dr. A. H. Upham, president-elect
of the University of Idaho, were received bv I*. P. Parsons, executive
. of the University of Idaho,
attending the convention of
Rotarians held at Pocatello recently.
"Two former students of Dr. Upham, upon learning that I was from
the university, hastened to congratulate the university upon securing the
services of Dr. Upham," said Mr. Parsons today. "Both of the men are
leaders in their respective communities and both are president of their
local Rotary clubs.
"Commenting upon our selection, P.
G. Peterson, Provo, Utah, said: 'Idaho
has selected a president who is not
only an educator but who is a man
among men. Whatever success I may
have achieved I attribute to the influence of Dr. Upham upon my life
while I was in college.'
"S. G. Rioh, Burley, Idaho, was even
more pleased over our choice. 'Nothing has brought myself or Mrs. Rich
more pleasure in many a day than
the news that Dr. Upham had been
selected as t'he head of the University
of Idaho,' he deolared. 'Dr. Upham
brought to me the full realization of
the value of a college education. I
owe much.to him for his kindness and
inspiring leadership.'
The new president will leave Miami
university for Idaho immediately
after Thauksgiving, stopping in Boise
en route for a conference with Commissioner Enoch A. Bryan. He will
arrive at the university the first week
