ISSUE LOOMING
Proposal to Raise Pay
Will Be Discussed by
Idaho Lawyers.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho, July 16.
—(Special.)—Plans for the Idaho
State Bar association meeting to
be held here Monday, July 23, have
been completed according to the
committee in charge of arrangements.
A business session will be held
in the morning, at which time the
legislative committee will bring up
for discussion the appointment instead of election of all district and
supreme court judges, the term to
be for 20 years instead of four
years for district court and eight
and six years for supreme court.
Also it is proposed to raise the salaries of all judges to $8000 a year.
Talk Insurance on Autos.
A proposal will also be discussed
requiring all automobile owners
in procuring licenses to take out
liability and property damage insurance.
The judicial committee composed
of Judges Dana E. Brink, district
judge at Boise, Raymond L. Givens,
justice of the supreme court, and
Charles P. McCarthy, formerly
chief justice of the supreme court,
will recommend an annual meeting
of the district judges and justice
of the supreme court, to discuss and
recommend reforms in procedure
and legislative measures.
The committee of prosecuting officers has recommended an annual
meeting of prosecuting attorneys in
connection with the annual state
bar meetings.
They also recommended the right
of the prosecuting attorney to file
inmormations containing two or
more charges growing out of the
same offense and the further right
of the prosecuting attorney to
amend the information prior to
plea on the part of the defendant.
A luncheon will be held in the
city park at noon and after the
business meeting in the afternoon
the members will be taken to Bo-
zanta tavern, Hayden Lake, for
dinner and entertainment.
