Civic Club to Get Out Special Edition of Northern Idaho News.
SANDPOINT, Idaho, April 5.—(Special.)—The civic club of Sandpoint, composed of more than 100 members of the leading ladies of the city, is making a unique and vigorous campaign among the business men, which they expect to bring to generous fruition in the publication on Tuesday, April 13, of the biggest and most profitable issue of al local newspaper ever put out in Bonner county. On that date they will take over the weekly issue of the Northern Idaho News, Don C. D. Moore, editor, on a liberal percentage basis. The subscription and advertising committees are out and several pages of extra advertising have already been promised by the business men.
The civic club is also working on the project of building a community house as a soldiers’ memorial. The club has been active also in securing a county nurse and a nurse to look after health and sanitation for the schools and the city. Mrs. L. B. Brooks is president of the club and Mrs. Sidney Smith is secretary-treasurer. The club did excellent work in the war campaigns.
A bathing pavilion with ample accommodations is talked of on the beautiful sandy beach of Lake Pend Oreille. In connection with the work social welfare is looked after. Regular monthly meetings are held and they are usually well attended.
