Pend Oreille Development League
Opposed—Indorses Idaho Road
—Names Officers.
NEWPORT, Wash., Jan. 24.—The,
Pend Oreille County Development
league, holding its quarterly meeting
here last evening, unanimously opposed any proposal to consolidate the
county with any other.
The meeting was attended by 75
representatives of civic groups of
Metaline Falls, lone, Cusick, Usk, Dal-
kena, Furport and Newport. It followed a dinner at the Congregational
church parlors.
One resolution indorsed the effort
of the Coeur d'Alene (Idaho) Cham-,
ber of Commerce, to expedite work
on the Idaho state highway from
Coeur d'Alene, via Rathdrum, Spirit
Lake and Blanchard, to connect with
the Pend Oreille highway here.
A legislative committee was appointed, consisting of H. A. Sewell,
Newport; Robert Hale, lone, and Oscar F. Wolf, Metaline Falls, to act on
pending legislation that may affect
Pend Oreille county.
New officers of the league were installed as follows:
V. P. Campbell, Newport, president;
E. E. Jones, Newport, secretary-treasurer, and William Davis, Newport,
roads chairman; E. O. Dressel, Meta-
line Falls, industrial; T. E. Fea, Usk,
agriculture; J. A. Wike, Cusick, tourist
and recreation, and T. F. McCarthy,
lone, finance and membership.
The next meeting will be at Metaline Falls in April.
