Close Hecla mine because of storm: Snow blacks traffic ; bins full ; to clear tracks, resume work Monday
The hecla mine closed down Thursday, according to a Wallace report. About 400 men are thrown out of work. The report states operations will be resumed Monday, the shutdown being temporary because of the congestion of ore in the bins, due to the storm stopping transportation. Snow is still falling this morning in the coer d'alenes and is the heaviest snowfall of recent years, but it is through by Monday track-clearing equipment will have restored transportation service from the mine to the mills, both of which are still in operation
