Report 40 New Influenza Cases: Disease Has Spread to 540 Persons in Spokane, Records Show.: No Cause For Alarm: Dr. J. B. Anderson Urges People to Be Calm- Need Hospital to Care for Victims.
The influenza situation in Spokane showed no tendency to become less serious yesterday. 40 new cases being reported to Dr. J. B. Anderson, city health officer, from various parts of the city, making Spokane's total 540. From all sides Dr. Anderson is being besieged to make some hospital arrangement to care for cases which cannot provide medical and nursing attention for themselves. To meet this cry, Dr. Anderson will call the Red Cross influenza emergency committee together this noon, and an effort will be made to get some central plan which can serve as an information bureau at least.
