Mr. Hoptowit is suing for money. - Yakima Indian woman claims man used fraud to secure her land. - In a suit filed in the superior court Reese B. Brown, a wealthy reservation farmer, is charged with obtaining posession of an Indian woman's 80 acres by fraudulent practices. The complainant is Hattie Hoptowit, who alleges while she was at the hospital giving birth to a baby last May, shortly after the death of her young husband, her brother, in the employ of Brown, induced her to part with her land for $7200, while in reality it was well worth $14,000. |
