1 watercolor view : col. , 20 x 31 cm . This portrays Astoria , Oregon , during the year 1845 . Astoria was first settled in 1811 , when members of the Pacific Fur Company established a Fort and a trading post there. In 1813 , after the War of 1812 , the Pacific Fur Company sold Fort Astoria to the Northwest Fur Company , who renamed it Fort George . However , over time the center of the British fur industry moved further inland , to Vancouver , Washington , and Fort George fell into relative disuse .
