Description
On October 27 , 1911 , Washington's Governor M . E . Hay stopped in Okanogan for a discussion on "Good Roads " and the possibility of four trunk routes being added to the State's highway system . He had just come from the Washington State Good Roads Convention in Wenatchee , and other stops included the towns of Entiat , Chelan , Lakeside , Pateros , Twisp , Brewster , Riverside , Conconully , Loomis , Oroville , Molson , Curlew and Republic . Following a luncheon with the town council , Hay had just enough time for a short public reception at the auditorium , as seen here. The auditorium , built in 1910 , held over 300 people and had a large balcony surrounding three sides . Note also the proscenium arch above the stage .
