Description
The tower of the Hotel Bureau , the grandest hotel of the time in Okanogan , is still unfinished in this photograph from 1911 . Starting construction before 1907 , riverboat captain , Mr . Charles Bureau , ran into financial troubles and also had difficulty with finding supplies . He did not complete the hotel until 1913 . In the meantime , as the hotel was slowly built , Captain Bureau rented space to businesses , such as the Kaesser Bakery , Eiler's House of Music , and Mrs . Warnick's Dressmaking Shop and Ice Cream Parlor .
