Matsura , Frank , 1873-1913 .
Description
The Okanogan and Wenatchee Commercial Clubs worked together in producing booster pamphlets of their regions . On July 21 1910 , the Wenatchee Commercial Club made an automobile trip to Okanogan as a way to see the area . The Okanogan Commercial Club planned a large celebration for them, adding a string of electrical lights to Second Avenue--as seen in this photo . The Okanogan Military Band played as they drove in, and other entertainment was procured by the Okanogan Orchestra , featuring Miss Dolly Lindsay on piano , Miss Esther Duley on violin , Mr . Leonard Bragg on coronet , Claude McKee on clarinet , Simon Holden on trombone and Eli Wilson playing tuba . All automobiles made the trip safely except for one Winton model carrying the Wenatchee Daily World newspaper editor , Rufus Woods . The car broke down near Malott , some eight miles away . As the Winton was the last in the driving line , no other cars missed them until they stopped in Okanogan . A stranded Mr . Woods spent the night on a hay stack .
