Description
Engineers survey the land located near a group of homes for the proposed route of the Elgin Canyon Road . The road was to be forty feet wide , and pass through lands belonging to CE Weatherstone , ZT East , WJ Kaesser , Retha M Perry and others . Work began in August 1911 with Grant Elgin plowing out the right of way for the local farmers . The road would shorten the time it took orchardists to bring their crops from Shell Rock Point south to Okanogan .
