Description
John Schaller , owner of the Schaller Bakery in the Schaller Building on Second and P Street , Okanogan , shows off his Spitzenberg apple trees . Two years old , the trees should begin to bear fruit within the next six years . Many orchardists worked in town while they waited the six to ten years it took for an apple tree to bear fruit . Spitzenberg was one of the more popular type of apple grown in Okanogan , along with the Winter Banana , the Johnathan and the Red Delicious .
