Description
Sitting Nez Perce woman and child ; Mrs . Minnie Joe and baby , wal'wáama/qemúynuu (Wallowa/Joseph band) Nez Perce . This baby won the first prize , a silver cup , over twenty nine other Native American babies , in a contest under the auspices of the woman's club of Yakima , 2 October , 1910 . The second and third prize were carried off by the lex̣éyuu (Yakama) . The show was a feature of the annual Washington State Fair .

Digitization
Original photographic prints were scanned at 24 bit color, with 3000 pixels by the long side, for master TIFF files on an Epson Expression 10,000 XL scanner. Prints were then scanned at 24 bit, with 600 pixels by the long side, as jpeg files. These JPEGs were then added to the CONTENTdm database at WSU Libraries.
