Sitting Yakima woman ; "Mourning Dove ", here depicted wearing western dress , greatly contributed to the documentation of Yakima tribal stories and myths . She worked not only as a translator and advisor for McWhorter , but also published a collection of Yakima Tribal stories herself .

Digitization
Original photographic prints were scanned at 24 bit color, with 3000 pixels by the long side, for master TIFF files on an Epson Expression 10,000 XL scanner. Prints were then scanned at 24 bit, with 600 pixels by the long side, as jpeg files. These JPEGs were then added to the CONTENTdm database at WSU Libraries.
