Description
Gelatin and silver print cabinet card of two unidentified Nez Perce men and a horse , wearing traditional Native American dress , including sám’x (shirts) , wehéyqt (loop necklaces) , ‘eqíiwit (earrings) , and tukepilpe’í (sashes) . The man on the right side of the photo is also wearing a cepéek’ilkt (breech cloth) and sam’áwas (belt) . This photograph was taken outdoors . These were originally noted as one being piyopyóot’alikt (Bird Alighting) (Peo Peo Tholekt) , but that is believed to not be true . Another photograph of the pair , in the private collection of Richard Storch , identifies one (probably the one on the right) as James McConville .
