To get some idea of how vast this theater is , look at the tiny figures standing on the rim at the top . It might have held as many as 12,000 spectators when Hieropolis was a thriving city .

Prof. Paul Brians created these photographs using an Olympus Camedia D-490ZOOM with available light, no tripod. A couple of dozen photos toward the end of the trip were made on Kodak disposable cameras. Paul Brians also provided captions and other descriptive information for the images that were cataloged and uploaded to the CONTENTdm server at the WSU Libraries.
