Description
St . Patrick's Cathedral , Dublin . Overwhelmingly Catholic Dublin lacks a Catholic cathedral , though it has two Protestant ones , the most famous of which is St . Patricks . The building originated in the 12th or 13th century as a Catholic church , of course ; but the fanatically Protestant Cromwell desecrated it by stabling his horses in it , and it was later appropriated for Protestant services , and so it remains , like many of Ireland's churches .
