Description
The recently reopened site of Tiryns in Mycenae is impressive , but the corridor polished by the many generations of sheep which were driven through it is now closed to the public . According to legend , Atreides lived in Mycenae , a fortress town that sent troops to fight at Thermopylae during the Persian wars . Argos conquered Mycenae in 468 BC , although the city remained populated until the end of the 3rd century AD .
